The PARK horizontal cutting machine divides blocks of PET foam into boards and working formats. PET foam is a rigid, resilient material used as a structural core and as technical filling — it calls for a different tool than soft upholstery foam or mineral wool.
A set knife for rigid foams
The machine cuts with an endless set knife. Setting the blade widens the kerf, so the blade does not bind in dense material and does not wander off the cutting line. This works well in foams up to 200 kg/m³, where a plain blade quickly loses its edge and leaves a wavy surface.
Working envelope
The machine takes blocks up to 3200 mm cutting length, 1300 mm cutting height and 1300 mm cutting width. That envelope allows full-size production blocks to be cut without dividing them first.
Loading and material transport
Material is fed on belt tables — an infeed table in front of the machine and an outfeed table behind it. The infeed table has cut-outs for forklift forks, so the block is set down straight from the forks, with no transfer and no crane. This shortens changeover and reduces the risk of damaging the block edges.
Dust extraction
Cutting rigid PET foam generates fine dust. The machine is fitted with extraction connected to a bag filter, collecting the swarf directly from the cutting zone. This improves working conditions and keeps the guides and blade wheels clean.
Safety
The cutting zone is enclosed by guarding with service gates, and light barriers protect the entry into the working area. The machine is operated from a free-standing cabinet with a touch panel and an emergency stop.
Applications
PET foam is used as a core in sandwich structures — wind turbine blades, marine craft, transport bodies — and as insulation and technical filling. The machine turns blocks into boards of repeatable thickness, ready for further processing or lamination.
